In the upcoming art session, we will delve into the process known as the Meander, as developed by Ruth Asawa and Josef Albers. Through this exploration, we will reflect on the challenges and rewards of motherhood and create a beautiful piece of art that reflects our journey, using positive and negative space on paper.

Kelly Funabashi is an artist who creates beautiful, meditative paintings using ink made from plants and found objects.

Kelly's passion for creating art began early when her love for beauty motivated her to bring comfort and joy to her surroundings and style. Today, she continues to create art to resist our burnout culture, heal her nervous system, and inspire others to explore beauty, adventure, experimentation, and reflection in their own lives.

Her paintings embody the rhythms of life, healing, and connection to nature through abstraction. She loves the excitement of searching for materials to make ink with, mixing them to create unique colors, and using them to make meditative paintings. She appreciates that the ink acts as a time capsule, preserving and becoming a living and permanent part of the artwork.

After reconnecting with our bodies and engaging in a non-verbal exploration of ourselves, we will share our experience of these processes through conversation, reflecting on what came up and out of these practices, strengthening our confidence in our voices and needs, and celebrating the space we've found through the journey.
